HOW WE VIEW OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

During the Gemini Project exploration program, we increased our landholdings to include agricultural land for future grazing and cropping purposes - resulting in minimal environmental impact. As a result, long-term ecological assessment shows the minimal likelihood of impact or threat to protected native flora, fauna, and habitat.

LONG TERM ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

On approval, a mandatory requirement for the project is to establish a continuous environmental monitoring program, which reports directly to the government. During the application phase, baseline studies were conducted and form the scientific benchmarks for the monitoring program during the life of the Gemini Project. Trigger points for noise, air, and discharge water quality have been established and, if activated, will result in both inquiry to determine the cause and increased scrutiny to ensure future compliance.

SITE REHABILITATION

The Gemini Project will commence progressive site rehabilitation as soon as suitable land is available. Based on previous sites, we anticipate this will be in year three of the project.

WATER MANAGEMENT

The Gemini Project will store water from external, on-site and reusable sources and establish a network of pump and pipelines creating an integrated water management system. This process of creating holistic strategies to address impacts of climate change, urbanisation and other water challenges at a regional and local level is recognised by industry leaders across the globe.

As we strive for a greener, cleaner planet, how does the Gemini project justify its commencing coal mining?
